The Fortunate Four & Other Journeys of the Heart has been ten years in the making.  Many joined the author for a true celebration, and it was a wonderful evening!

Light hors d'oeuvres and champagne were served as everyone met the author and had the unique opportunity of visiting with some of the women who shared their journeys in this book.  Ginny Elmer, Donna Grinvalds, Chris Matteson, Phyllis Ranallo, and Annette Scherer Robbins were the honored guests for the evening.

Braham Pie Day
Friday, August 1, 2003

10 a.m. - 6:30 p.m.  Joy is a graduate of Braham High School.  She was  available throughout the day to visit and autograph copies of her book.  Everyone had a great time at Braham Pie Day, and there were a lot of great conversations with other women at the booth.

The most humorous quote of the day goes to Kitty Hallie who said, "All the males at my house are either in a cage or neutered."  (She raises cockatiels and dogs.)

The quaint town of Braham, Minnesota, is located about an hour's drive north of the Twin Cities.  One day each summer, Braham celebrates the honor of being named the Homemade Pie Capital of Minnesota.  The town's fame for pie began in the 1930s and 40s.  Families traveling north from the Cities to their lake homes in Duluth would take the shortcut through Braham and stop for the wonderful pie and coffee at the Braham Park Cafe.

This pie festival began in 1990.  Now in the 13th year, it draws over 5,000 people and more than 525 fruit pies are served.

Washington by midnight, exploring caves, being serenaded before bed time by some young fellas they met at a dance, and much more.  The journeys of these and other spirited women featured in The Fortunate Four & Other Journeys of the Heart will be discussed and brought to life through images presented in a PowerPoint presentation.

There will also be signed copies of The Fortunate Four  available for purchase at a special price following the presentation.
