I knew the final chapter in the story of Phyllis and Elmer, for I had seen the photograph for the first time at Elmer's funeral service in 2001 following his death from lung cancer.  After seeing the exquisite hand-tinted photograph from when they were a young couple, I had to learn from Phyllis just how their love story began.  She shared with me the tender love story that lies behind the photograph.

Who was the beautiful young woman in the old photograph?  The flowing lacy dress and string of pearls around her neck reflected a sense of beauty and refinement.  Her gentle spirit shown through the photograph, and I was drawn to learn about her journey.  I discovered her journey had been as poetic and artistic as her portrait exhibited.
